VC-PS-HC-SPLKService brief
Splunk Health Check & Optimization
One Splunk deployment, eight review areas, and a fix list with the effort estimated for each item.
VC-PS-HC-SPLKWhy this service
Most Splunk problems are not Splunk problems. They are a sourcetype with the wrong timestamp, a data model that accelerates every index, a scheduled search that runs every minute for a dashboard nobody opens, or a role that grants more than it should. Each one is small. Together they are the licence overage and the slow search.
The Splunk Health Check finds them in one pass, ranks them, and tells you how much effort each one takes to fix. Pair it with Cribl in front of Splunk and the licence conversation changes entirely.
Benefits
- Know exactly which sources, searches and apps are costing you licence and compute
- A clear picture of your search load, so scheduled searches stop skipping
- Onboarding problems found at the sourcetype level, where they are cheap to fix
- A prioritized fix list with the effort estimated for each item

Overview
The Splunk Health Check & Optimization is a fixed-scope remote review of a single Splunk Cloud or Splunk Enterprise deployment. It evaluates the architecture, how data is indexed and licensed, how searches behave under load, the health of knowledge objects and premium app content, and the hygiene of data onboarding and access control.
The outcome is a health report with a prioritized fix list. Each item includes the finding, the recommended change and an effort estimate. The review does not change anything in your environment.
How it works
VisiCore delivers this service remotely through scheduled working sessions led by a named VisiCore engineer who holds current Cribl and/or Splunk certifications. On-site days can be added under a separate order.
Unless agreed otherwise in writing, the engagement starts within one week of VisiCore accepting the signed order. The working schedule is set at the kickoff meeting.
VisiCore provides an agenda before each session, including which of your team members should attend. Sessions run one to four hours.
Every task, decision and deliverable is tracked as a ticket in the X10 client portal, so your team always has a current record of what was done and why.
Scope

Service period
90 days.
- The customer has 90 days from the start date (the "Service Period") to schedule and use the services in this brief.
- The service ends automatically at the close of the Service Period unless VisiCore agrees in writing to extend it.
- Unused portions of the service are non-refundable and non-creditable.
- VisiCore may deliver services after the Service Period if the customer gives written notice at least 30 days before it ends and VisiCore agrees.
Requirements
To deliver this service on schedule, the customer agrees to:
- Name an engagement lead with the authority to make decisions and accept deliverables
- Provide the accounts, access and network connectivity VisiCore engineers need before the first working session
- Attend scheduled sessions (one to four hours each) and complete prerequisite work before them
- Bring the subject-matter experts who own the systems being integrated
- Review each deliverable within five business days of hand-off. Without written feedback in that window the deliverable is accepted; non-blocking issues are handled after acceptance
- Provide access to the Splunk Monitoring Console, or a diag from a search head and an indexer, before the assessment session
- Provide read access to the search tier so engineers can review knowledge objects, scheduled searches and ES or ITSI content
- The health report is accepted when the customer confirms it in writing, or five business days after delivery if no critical defects are reported in that window
Scheduled meetings
Meetings are scheduled at mutually agreed times during VisiCore business hours.
The customer must give at least 48 hours' written notice to cancel, reschedule or shorten a scheduled meeting. Without that notice, VisiCore may count the meeting as delivered.
